Kaula was born in Boston, MA, where he resided for the majority of his life. He studied at the
Massachusetts Normal Art School, the Cowles Art School and the Académie Julian. He was a
member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Boston Art Club, the Boston Watercolor Club, and the
New York Watercolor Club.
