266. DWIGHT BLANEY (Massachusetts 1865-1944) “On the Hills and Far
Away”, watercolor on paper depicting a snowy field, signed lower right Dwight Blaney,
1923, and titled on reverse, in a Foster Brothers ebonized oak frame. 13 in. x 19 in.
Blaney was born in Brookline, MA and originally trained as an architect until his friend John Singer
Sargent encouraged him to paint.

CHAIRS, New England, circa 1720-1730, yoke-shaped crest with molded carving above
a narrow vase-shaped splat over a trapezoidal rush seat, on block and baluster-turned
legs joined by double frontal balls and ring-turned stretcher and double-ring turned side
stretchers, Spanish feet.
