and dated lower left Hart Beers Kempson,
1881. 17 in. x 11 in.
Born in Pittsfield, MA, Beers moved to New
York City in the mid-1850s into a studio in the
Dodworth’s Building on Broadway. She first
exhibited at the National Academy of Design
and later at the Boston Athenaeum.
