229. FINE AND SOPHISTICATED LADY’S WALKING STICK, circa 1850,
carved and reeded whalebone shaft and whale ivory paneled knob grip inlaid with 254
pieces of abalone, tortoise shell and baleen dots, crescent moons, stars, hearts, panels
and diamonds, gold band and panel engraved 1837, two silver blocks with initials “W.N”.
Length 34 ¾ in.
230. WHALEBONE POLYCHROME LADY’S BUSK, mid 19th Century, carved
from a piece of panbone with double dome crest, pine tree, lady with long hair, purse
and reaching for a vine above the initials “M.C.” with a warrior and potted plant under a
weeping evergreen, all wit hin an arrow feather border. Length 13 ¾ in.
