123 Samuel Griggs was listed in the Boston City Directory from 1848 to 1852 as an architect, and as an artist from 1854 onward. It is believed that he studied under Albert Bierstadt before he was well known, and displayed a painting in an Albert Bierstadt exhibition in New Bedford, Massachusetts, as well as the Boston Athenaeum and Boston Art Club. 307.
