REMOVABLE AERO SHELLS CLICK-TO-FIT™ SYSTEM Removable aero shells allow you to adjust helmet ventilation and aerodynamics. With the Click-To-FitTM system, you can adjust the fit very precisely. On the hill, you can tighten or loosen the helmet for perfect fit. SAFETY QR CODE The One and Messenger put the emphasis on safety. This BOLLE exclusive option makes your outings safer. + In case of an accident, Safety QR Code allows any person equipped with a smartphone that can read QR codes, to identify who exactly should be contacted and what should be done, thanks to a voice message recorded beforehand NEW HELMET Bollé THE ONE ROAD PREMIUM Bollé The One With The One Road Premium, Bollé has made a modular helmet, which encompasses every aspect of your cycling life: commuting, training, road racing, aero performance, and even mountainbiking. The only problem is the lack of user-friendliness in fine-adjusting the fit. With that said and done though The One Road Premium is a helmet, which offers a lot of bang for the buck. It was with some reservations that I received my test-sample of Bollé The One Premium, as the pictures which Bollé provides, and which can be found on the internet doesn’t do the helmet justice. REMOVABLE VISOR For those who prefer the road but, from time to time, head off the beaten track, The One helmet is also delivered with a removable mountain bike visor. You can use the same helmet on- and off-road. LED The LED was especially designed for a perfect fit with BOLLE helmets. Located at the highest point of the cyclist’s silhouette, the LED has 2 positions, either continuous or flashing, and offers best possible visibility and, as a result, added safety. 10 MARCH 2016 · RACEMAKERS Gear & gadgets In reality, though, The One Road Premium is a tough looking helmet and the back end looks like something that could tear down a building. It’s a well build helmet where Bollé has had focus on protection rather than weight, but still the helmet comes in at just 295 grams in a size M; 54-58 (the helmet comes in two sizes: 54-58, 58-62). Accessories and the modular design The design of the helmet features a modular principle where you can add or subtract panels or features to your need. Also the two big holes on the front are specifically made for housing your bike-glasses when not in use – a great little feature. Because of the modular design the accessories in the package are numerous. To take them one by one you get: Helmet with pre-installed panels, a backlight, stickers, which links to an app with your personal information if you register, mountainbike visor, winter cap for the cold days, and a carrying bag. The addition of the backlight and stickers emphasizes Bollé’s focus on safety and is a welcome feature if you want to use the helmet on the mountainbike or in the late afternoon. The modular design of the helmet lets you remove or add panels in accordance to how aero you want to be, or how hot it is. The panels are attached by strategically placed plastic clips. The MTB visor is installed by removing the side-badge and using the remaining holes as mounting points. My only complaint to using the helmet as a mountainbike helmet is that it doesn’t protect the lower back of your head as much as I would have liked. On the other hand, the helmet does not differ much from other helmets in the same category, as it is not a trail-specific helmet. The backlight is mounted by removing a badge and putting the light in its place. A feature which makes the helmet a great helmet for commuting, and also eliminates the needs to carry a backlight when riding in the afternoon. RACEMAKERS · MARCH 2016 11
