Pressure and temperature chart. Superheat calculation tools Several tools are available to accurately determine a systems superheat and sub-cooling for optimal system performance. Again, these are features that would be incorporated in a smartphone/ Bluetooth manifold, or be able to be determined by a top of the range digital manifold. However there are some simple and accurate tools to derive the same. The superheat calculation kit pictured here is a versatile tool to have. The kit consists of a four-in-one vacuum/charging valve with side-port, a digital thermometer with nut, a broken Schrader remover and Schrader rethreading tool. Besides the obvious use as a superheat tool, the individual components are a must have in a technician’s tool kit. The digital superheat tool shown here is easy to use: simply select your refrigerant, enter the pressure readings from your manifold gauges and clamp the thermocouple on to the tube to activate the display reading.
