QSM So, were here for Quirky Soul Magazine. My name is Kevin Leo and I';m here interviewing Robin Harris from Finding Rhythms.

QSM What is Finding Rhythms all about?

RH Finding Rythms is a professional music charity, based in helping offenders gain their positive identities through music making.

QSM Fantastic! How long have you been established?

RH We were established in 2012 and have been operating as a charity for the last five years. To date we have produced 21 albums of music in prisons in the UK.

QSM What's your main focus?

RH Our main focus is to promote positive renewal of a person's

self worth, through music making, song writing and composing. Were not therapists, we're not teachers. We broker artist / producer relationships to facilitate a creative dialogue between professionals and those who are looking to better their lives.

QSM How do you recruit for your projects?

We recruit through various methods. We sometimes advertise but generally I work with my existing professional industry network of musicians, who are quite accustomed to industry standards, whether it's in broadcasting, writing or composing. The key ingredient really is to recruit people who have music industry commercial experience into that setting. That has been the key and is one of the DNA strands of our charity that we don't specifically recruit teachers, therapist or people who work in music therapy. We are looking to work with people with industry experience and who obviously have a passion and desire to want to help other people.
