Describe your job.

I’m a Graduate Electrical Engineer at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO). My job is mainly designing and constructing transmission lines and electrical substations.

What problem does your job help to solve? How does your job make the world a better place?

We transmit power from generation stations to load centres in the country which improves reliability of the network and increases access to electricity.

Why did you choose a career in Engineering? What was your greatest influence in making the decision?

I was fascinated with the idea of protons and electrons and the flow of electricity as a whole. I wanted to really understand how electrical systems work at a young age. My high school physics teacher was very helpful in making me understand what it all entailed.

What are you passionate about?

Engineering systems and mentorship.

What would you enjoy doing even if you were not paid to do it?

Designing electrical networks and helping vulnerable children and women.

State some of your hobbies.

Outdoor activities, watching movies, mentorship and reading.

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

There’s a lot to be achieved in a lifetime, never get satisfied.

What would you like to be remembered for?

Helping girls in the society to achieve their dreams.
