Collaboratively, the scholarship committee read over 100 applications from deserving students from throughout the state of New Mexico. Eligible students graduating from a New Mexico Public School or Charter School were notified in December of the application process. Awards were made to eight students in April and May.

Greetings and congratulations for surviving another school year. It’s been a challenging 12 months and now we begin the process all over again. I am humbled by having had the opportunity to have served as the committee chair for the NMASBO Scholarship committee for close to five years. The scholarship process has evolved quite a bit since its initial inception and it will continue to evolve as the new Committee Chair, Kimberley Stone, works to get the scholarship application as a digital submission. I would like to encourage you to work with your school counselor to remind them that the scholarship is available to students in your schools.

A tremendous thank you to the ollowing people for serving on the Scholarship Committee this year: Sandra Ashcraft – Ruidoso

There were seven $1500 scholarships and one $2500 scholarship. This fall, the NMASBO Board of Directors is planning to award two college students a scholarship award of $500 each. Those eligible will be students who plan on majoring in Business and Finance with 50 credits and current attendance at NMSU or UNM. As the program unfolds, it is possible that other smaller colleges will have the opportunity to have their Business students apply.

On a personal note, I am thankful to the NMASBO Board of Directors, both past and present, for trusting me with the Scholarship process and for supporting me as the program evolved into what it is today. You are much appreciated.
