President Elect - Kimberly Stone - Capitan Schools

It is hard to believe that 2018 is well under way and I look forward to seeing you all at the Winter NMASBO Conference in Albuquerque!

I want to take this opportunity to ask you all for your support to be your next President-Elect for NMASBO and I look forward to the opportunity to serve the organization for several years to come. I am currently the Chief Financial Officer of the Capitan Municipal Schools, where I have served for seven years.

As President-Elect, I want to help continue bringing professional development opportunities to all business officials that are in line with current regulations and changing reporting requirements. I am a firm believer that the roles of School Business Officials are a vital part of the public school system within the state. I am committed to supporting a professional development system that provides for the needs of brand new business officials as well as seasoned members of the organization.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business from New Mexico State University. I have served as a political appointee under President George W. Bush as a Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the United States Department of Agriculture. I have also served as a Legislative Aide to the late Congressman, Joe Skeen, of New Mexico in both his New Mexico and Washington, DC offices. Among my duties were responsibilities for developing legislation, conducting research and forming opinions on issues dealing with agriculture and education. Additionally, I was the Director of Marketing and Business Development at First American Bank before becoming a stay-at-home mom for several years.

I am active in multiple community and statewide organizations in New Mexico including the NMASBO, Leadership New Mexico, Lincoln Leadership, and New Mexico Cattle Growers to name a few. I live with my husband, Troy and two sons, Eleck and Bryce, on our family cattle ranch north of Capitan. In my free time, I operate Tall Blonde Photography and work for the Team Eleck Foundation which all proceeds benefit Cystic Fibrosis research and the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of my son, Eleck who was diagnosed with CF at age six.
