Winter Conference

On February 21-23, business officials from throughout the state will convene in Albuquerque for the 2018 Winter Conference Regulatory Training. There will be over 30 sessions of relevant presentations and topics for attendees from school districts and charter schools. Our General Session Keynote speaker, Christine Cashen, will deliver a positive message entitled, “Get What You Want with What You Got." Christine’s dynamic message and humor will definitely kick off this year’s conference on a positive note; you don’t want to miss it!

The Exhibit Expo and Silent Auction will be loaded with resources and information from school vendors and service providers from throughout the state and country.

There will be numerous opportunities to network with your fellow school business officials at breakout sessions and planned socials during the conference.

Strategic Planning

Your NMASBO Board of Directors will be meeting in Albuquerque March 8-9 to review the NMASBO Strategic Plan. This is where they begin annually to review the specific direction of your association. Committees review annual goals, measure progress, and determine if they have been held accountable to the goals. They will address the challenges, opportunities, pressing topics and issues facing NMASBO.

Their commitment and focus will set the tone and direction for 2018 -2019.

Spring Budget Workshop

The PED and NMASBO are once again pleased to put on this year’s Spring Budget Workshop. It will be on April 4-6 at Hotel Albuquerque. The current room block is sold out. The Best Western Rio Grande Hotel, Crowne Plaza, and Embassy Suites are providing excellent room rates. Visit our website at www.nmasbo.org for availability and room rates. Presentations on various topics: Public school-related legislation, instructional materials, capital outlay, transportation and state audit requirements. The 2018-2019 Operating Budget process as it relates to (OMBS) will also be presented. School Budget and Finance Analysis Bureau will be on-site throughout the workshop to assist school district and charter schools.

Transition

Leadership transition is an integral process that begins long before the outgoing leader departs and it presents a remarkable opportunity to move forward with a new understanding of the complexities, challenges, and changes for the association.

The transition from your current Executive Director to your new one will be taking place from February 1 - June 30. We will be working together to ensure a seamless and effective change in leadership. NMASBO will announce and introduce the new Executive Director in February at the Winter Conference.

I hope is to see and visit with you at the Winter Conference!
