“If you haven't got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.” ― Bob Hope

It is no secret that one of things that makes me most proud of being a part of NMASBO is our Social Responsibility Campaign. This is because I know the quality of the people in the school business community and I know you all are doing special things in your community every day. This campaign gives us an opportunity to do it together and make even more of an impact. The fact that we have successfully come together at every fall and winter conference to make a difference for an organization that helps children for the past two years proves I am correct. In the 2016 fiscal year, we supported Coats for Kids and in 2017 we supported Make-A-Wish Foundation of NM.

We are pleased to announce that, this year, we are sponsoring another organization that does great things for children and their families:

Simply put, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) mission is: “Keeping families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need." I hope that you and the people you care about have never needed to utilize the resources of this organization but, for those who have, you realize what a great service they provide. Helping a sick child fight an illness takes a big enough emotional toll on a family. Adding a financial strain can make it all almost too much to bear. RMHC can help address those problems, whether they involve housing near a hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city, or even getting basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community. Thank you all again for the great success of our first two Community Social Responsibility Campaigns and for what was accomplished at Fall Conference; we have already raised $711 for RMHC! I look forward to seeing what more we can accomplish at the 2018 Winter Conference and I know that we can count on you all to continue to be generous. In the meantime, I hope you all are having a great school year but that you all find some time to wind down and give back a little to yourselves and your families on your upcoming winter breaks.
