Quarterly Newsletters 17/18 Second Quarter Newsletter | Page 3

In the first quarter newsletter, I thanked my ASBO International family for all of the support they have so unselfishly provided during my tenure as your executive director.

It’s time for me to thank everyone who has been on this 15 year journey with me. It’s been said, “Success is a journey, not a destination." My journey has reached its destination. In June, I will officially be stepping down as your executive director. I am humbled and honored to have been the first executive director for the New Mexico Association of School Business Officials. I have worked for almost 40 years in public education in New Mexico as a teacher, coach, athletic director, athletic development specialist, and executive director of the APS Foundation. All of these positions and places along the journey were good, but I can honestly say that working for school business officials has been the most rewarding position I have held during my more than 40 years in education.

School Business Officials are the most selfless, dedicated servants you will ever find in school districts and charter schools throughout our state. You always find a way to make ends meet for educators and children who count on you to keep the schools running effectively year after year. Thank you all!

I want to thank every business official who selflessly served on the NMASBO Board of Directors during my tenure. The success of this journey is due to your leadership. I have been blessed to work under the following presidents who guided and directed this journey over the past 15 years: Bill Moffatt, Caron Snow, John Samford, Nancy Ross, Tami Coleman, Jose Cano, Naomi Vicenti, Terry Dean, Randy Evans and President Elect Claire Cieremans. Thank you for the opportunity and for believing and supporting me on this journey every step of the way. The New Mexico Association of School Business Officials is recognized on the local and national stage for its mission: to lead the New Mexico school business profession by providing quality professional development opportunities and a network of support.

Every one of these past presidents made it their job to ensure that the New Mexico Association of School Business Officials served its member schools and charters throughout the state to reinforce NMASBO Values; in our dealings, we operate in a professional and ethical manner with integrity, stewardship and dependability.

NMASBO Members and Associate Members, thank you so much for supporting your association and the staff at NMASBO. More importantly, you have all participated and contributed to your association throughout this journey.

Today is not goodbye. I hope to see and visit with you all during the 2018 Winter Conference in February and at the 2018 Spring Budget Workshop in April.

I wish you all a blessed holiday season!
