NMASBO is the recognized leader in school business management and the trusted expert in quality professional development and information resource for school business in New Mexico.

4. Is NMASBO using the Strategic Planning Retreat to prepare for the new leadership coming in July 2018?

The Executive Director Selection Committee is working diligently to identify a new Executive Director prior to the Strategic Planning retreat in March. During the retreat, staff and the board will work on goals and objectives that will create a seamless transition to the next period of leadership for NMASBO.

5. How will NMASBO maintain our position as the leader in school business management and the trusted leader in quality professional development?

Our goals will continue to focus on standardized training and curriculum, enhanced communication with our members and being an information exchange vehicle for our members.

I believe, given the challenges and opportunities ahead of us, we can be truly excited about the future of NMASBO and will continue to encourage membership involvement in the association.

I hope you all have a peaceful and safe holiday break and we look forward to providing quality professional development possibilities at the Winter Conference in February. I look forward to seeing you all there.

President's Perspective

As we approach the halfway point in our year, I would like to address five questions that NMASBO will need to answer for 2018.

1.What does NMASBO’s future look

like?

In July 2018, NMASBO will have a new leader as the Executive Director and that will bring an opportunity to take the association to a new level in its development. The focus will remain on the membership, but we may explore more and varied ways to provide support and professional growth to our membership.

2. What is NMASBO’s role in influencing

public education?

NMASBO is positioning itself to have an even greater influence as to how public education analyzes financial data. We will look for ways to best use resources to have the greatest impact on student achievement.

3. How can NMASBO assist our membership to work with legislators for the 2018 legislative session?

NMASBO will need to inform our members of financial issues during the legislature in a timely and efficient way for them to respond to legislative requests. NMASBO will work as a conduit of information during the 2018 Legislative session.
