Kimberly Stone is the Chief Financial Officer of the Capitan Municipal Schools, a position she held for the last four years. In late May, she took over duties as the Head Volleyball Coach for Capitan High School.

She is excited about her new role as a NMASBO board member and looks forward to helping bring professional development opportunities that are in line with current regulations and changing reporting requirements to all business officials. She is a firm believer that the roles of School Business Officials are a vital part of the Public School System within the state.

Stone is committed to supporting a professional development system that provides for the needs of brand new business officials as well as seasoned members of the organization. Stone knows that she must do the very best for the students in her school district and she is excited for the opportunity to serve on a state level to help other business officials do their best for their students.

Stone has a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business from New Mexico State University. Her resume includes serving as a political appointee under President, George W. Bush as a Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the United States Department of Agriculture. She also served as a Legislative Aide to the late Congressman Joe Skeen of New Mexico in both his New Mexico and Washington, DC offices. Among her duties were responsibilities for developing legislation, conducting research and forming opinions on issues dealing with agriculture and education. Additionally, she was the Director of Marketing and Business Development at First American Bank before becoming a stay-at-home mother for several years.

Stone is active in multiple community and statewide organizations in New Mexico including the NMASBO, Leadership New Mexico, Lincoln Leadership, and New Mexico Cattle Growers. Stone lives with her husband, Troy and two sons, Eleck and Bryce, on their family cattle ranch north of Capitan. In her free time she operates Tall Blonde Photography, whose proceeds benefit Cystic Fibrosis research in honor of her son, Eleck, who was diagnosed with CF at age six.
