The NMASBO 2015-2016 Budget was prepared with only a few key changes over the last few years' budgets. The most significant change was to increase revenue in line with the organizations fixed and variable costs. The change to NMASBO’s membership dues structure was made by NMASBO Executive Board last spring and put into effect on July 1, 2015.

The decision to change the dues structure has been in the discussion phase for the last three years and was not made lightly or without significant data. To determine the new dues structure, we analyzed the enrollment of every district and charter as well as the dues of other professional organizations such as NMCEL, NMSBA, and NMAA. When compared to these other professional organizations, the increase was still below the average of their annual dues. It should also be noted that NMASBO had not changed or increased our due structure for over 15 years.

The increased amounts per district and charter were established by analyzing the organization's fixed and variable costs and comparing the fixed costs to the recurring revenue. Our attempt was to structure our finances in a way that a majority of our fixed operating costs would be covered by membership dues. With a more steady revenue stream, we will continue to ensure that NMASBO is able to maintain and increase our level of Professional Development to our members, continue to offer our Annual Boot Camp for those individuals that may be new to school business, continue to support participation in NMASBO List Serve, continue to support and maintain affiliation with ASBO International and continue the Annual Eligibility for scholarships to attend ASBO International conference. As we move forward, NMASBO is continuing to expand our training in a manner that better meets the needs of our members, including the development of online classes.

On the expenditures side, the change included the increased costs associated with one full time employee to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization. A few other noteworthy benefits NMASBO is continuing to support through the budget are:

- Attendance/Recruiting of School Business Officials by attending job fairs

at NMSU and UNM and sending information to the placement offices of ENMU, WNMU, and Highlands University.

- SFO Reimbursement

- Annual Scholarships for students of New Mexico.
