NMASBO Distinguished Business Official of the Year Award

Proudly Sponsored by AXA

Mrs. Pamela Beevers from Melrose Public Schools was surprised this year when she was called to the stage to be recognized as our 2016 AXA/NMASBO Distinguished Business Official of the Year. Pam’s Superintendent Jamie Widner, was notified the week before the Spring Budget Workshop of her selection and made the decision it would be nice to surprise her and secretly have her family show up to share in her special moment. Pam acknowledged that having her family attend was an awesome surprise. Pam expressed, that she felt “very blessed” to be selected and very much appreciated Lecil Richards and Jamie Widner for nominating her for this honor.

I can’t say that I knew Pam before she was recognized this year. I have seen her attend the NMASBO annual conferences for many years, but to read through her nomination forms, she is truly an asset and “rock star” to our Business Official profession. Her Superintendent wrote: “Pam works hard and is very dedicated to her Melrose School District, where she has worked for the past 24 years.” He also stated, “She is the go-to person for questions and is always willing to help others.” Stories like hers make me glad to be a part of such an important role in the lives of children.

I would like to sincerely thank the committee who helped in the selection of the Business Official/Roadrunner Award. It never is an easy job! I would also like to thank all the other nominees and the people who took the time to nominate them for this award. Special thanks go out to Lynn Sarkis with AXA for partnering with NMASBO to make this year’s award include a Scholarship to attend the Fall International ASBO Conference in Phoenix.

We want this award to continue to grow and get bigger and better for our membership in the years to come.

Congratulations again to Mrs. Pamela Beevers from Melrose Public Schools!
