Strategic Planning…

"A systematic process of envisioning a desired future and translating this vision into broadly defined goals or objectives and a sequence of steps to achieve them."

NMASBO’s vision is to be the recognized leader in school business management and the trusted expert in quality professional development and information resource for school business in New Mexico.

For over 15 years, the mission of the New Mexico Association of School Business Officials has been to lead the New Mexico school business profession by providing quality professional development opportunities and a network of support.

ASBO International’s Affiliate association members throughout the country share very similar missions as we do here at NMASBO. We all strive to continue to provide the resources and training to better assist our members each year. The main challenge associations face annually is developing quality professional training for its members and provideing a substantial network of support.

Each March prior to the Spring Budget Workshop, your NMASBO Board of Directors meets to review its strategic plan. The time is spent well on identifying the past year's accomplishments and prioritizing our future direction. After carefully reviewing insight from membership surveys, insight provided by the Board and staff, each committee is tasked to review goals from the previous strategic planning meeting. During the review process, the respective committees identify the status of specific goals and objectives. The Board, meeting as a committee of the whole, then identifies current goals /objectives that need to remain as well as develop new goals and objectives for the next year. The current strategic planning process is designed to address the immediate direction of the association’s goals and objectives.

In March, the NMASBO Board will convene again for strategic planning. They will be focusing on the future - what, why, when and where your association will position its goals and objectives to better serve current and future business officials working at schools through out the State of New Mexico.

If you have any suggestions or thoughts on what your association should look like in the next five to 15 years, please provide us with your input by email directly to me at [email protected] or any member of the Board of Directors. Your association is always here for you. Please stay in touch. It’s my privilege and pleasure to serve as your Executive Director. Business officials are rock solid in my opinion!
