Although Wirtgen’s surface mining technology has been available on the market for over three decades,
its uptake in South Africa has been minimal. Wirtgen South Africa recently trialled its 2200SM machine
at a number of local sites to showcase its ability to effectively mine material without drilling, blasting or
primary crushing.
