Do you want to meet other families in our base community? Join us at the EFMP Social Hour, a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with other EFMP families. SPECIAL OLYMPICS YOUNG ATHLETES 1, 8 & 15 AUG, 0930-1030, BARNETT FIELD EFMP is collaborating with Special Olympics to host our first Young Athletes program for children with and without intellectual disabilities for ages 2 to 7 years. Children will be shown basic sport skills such as running, kicking, and throwing. The program will provide children with activities and games that meet their individual skill and ability levels. All activities are easy and fun. This event will allow them to meet new friends, learn new skills, and have fun in an inclusive environment. SPECIAL EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM FOR MILITARY FAMILIES 7 AUG, 0900-1300, TCAQ Information will be provided by staff from both the Virginia Department of Education (VDoE) and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). This is a great opportunity for families who are new to Virginia or who want to get a better understanding of Special Education services in both state and DoDEA schools. Call the EFMP office to check on availability of seats. ALL ABOUT WEATHER 9 AUG, 0900-1100, BARNETT FIELD PAVILION The MCB Quantico MCAF Meteorology Team will talk about the science of weather. EFMP Staff will provide weather crafts and experiments for the children and information will be shared on how to prepare for weather emergencies that can occur. RESPITE CARE OVERVIEW 14 AUG, 1100-1300, VEC This educational brief provides information to support families interested in receiving respite care reimbursement, with an overview of respite care eligibility, purpose, and other information to help qualified families use the program successfully. Individual sessions can be scheduled if this time does not meet the needs of the client. EFMP SUPPORT GROUP 16 AUG, 1000-1100, NPSP The EFMP Support Group provides a nurturing environment for families with special needs family members, and the adult caregiver. This group provides support, guidance, networking opportunities, and accessibility to resources. FAMILY FORUM & FAMILY GAME NIGHT 16 AUG, 1730-1930, RFSC Share your thoughts, ideas, and concerns with the EFMP Staff and base entities, then join us for a night of fun, playing board games. It is a great way for families to laugh, play, and bond. SENSORY STORY TIME 21 AUG, 0900-1000, NPSP Story Time is designed to engage the senses through music, movement, art, reading, and a variety of play activities. Meet new people and make new friends. Foster social skills with other children and network with other parents. END OF SUMMER BLAST 29 AUG, 1700-1900, BARNETT PLAYGROUND Bring the whole family as we celebrate the ending of summer. There will be many outdoor activities to enjoy. An adult must accompany all children. 11
