School Liaison (SL) 2034 Barnett Ave, Quantico, 703-784-4729 Email: [email protected] Home is where the Marine Corps sends you. Many of us have that quote either memorized or mounted somewhere in our home. It’s the time of year that military spouses either love or hate, as they anticipate the location of a new home, possibility of making new friends or connecting with old friends, and the undeniable stress of asking the age old question; where do I start is preparing for this move? Yes, orders are being issued, and as spouses, we will valiantly answer the call to contain our lives temporarily in boxes, leave our current home and friends, while looking forward to the next adventure. As we journey to a new home via another infamous road trip, we ponder the path ahead while reminiscing about the road behind. We look forward to proving our resiliency once again. For those with school-aged children, another layer is added to the complexity as we help our children prepare to transition and begin to ponder what schools will be at our new home. The School Liaison Program (SLP) at Marine Corps Base Quantico is a great resource for military families with children in grades K-12. Our program assists military families with information and resources on Virginia K-12 education. In addition to family services, the SLP collaborates with different schools in the area to support their mission of educating both military and civilian students. We also work closely with the Virginia Department of Education to improve policies affecting the education and graduation rates of incoming military students.
