MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS
In 2014-15, the College demonstrated its commitment
to Developing the Young Workforce by stimulating
demand amongst employers and increasing our
support for Modern Apprenticeships.
A total of 805 Modern Apprentices (MAs) undertook
training at the College in 2014-15. Of these, 507 were
through our contract with Skills Development Scotland
(SDS) and 298 were sub-contracted by organisations such
as the CITB.

In total, the College delivered 301 new MA starts in 201415 (an increase of 14 percent on the previous year). Of
these, 165 (14 percent more than the previous year) were
contracted with SDS and 136 (32 percent more than the
previous year) sub-contracted.
The increase in MA starts strongly correlates to the
College’s extensive engagement with employers. For
example, in 2014-15, in response to needs identified
by local industry, the college introduced a new Modern
