Placements: Placements are invaluable
in consolidating theoretical study into
practical expertise by working directly
with patients and qualified staff. You will
complete one two-week foundation
placement in Year One, one six-week
placement in Year Two, two six-week
placements in Year Three and in Year
Four one six-week placement and a
four-week elective placement.
Placements take place within the NHS
and social care sector at various
locations across Scotland. QMU
manages the sourcing and allocation of
placements for each student with the
exception of the elective placement. The
elective placement is organised by each
individual student and provides the
potential for a practice-based placement
in a speciality area of interest or outside
of the UK. It may be possible for you to
undertake a single, elective, practice-
based placement outside the UK.

You will be eligible to apply for
registration with the Health and Care
Professions Council (HCPC) and to apply
for membership of the Chartered Society
of Physiotherapy.
Careers: You can work as a
physiotherapist in the NHS, both in major
hospitals and in the community, in private
practice or in industry. Some of our
graduates have also gone on to work as
sports physiotherapists and to pursue
research careers.
