Other requirements A satisfactory criminal records check is also required . We also expect applicants to have visited an appropriate Diagnostic Radiology Department . As the profession requires you to work with patients and their families and with other healthcare professionals , you will need excellent interpersonal skills and you need to be caring and compassionate towards individuals ’ circumstances .
Great attention to detail and an ability to think quickly and make decisions are also required . You should be a good team player , and work well individually .

Placements Placements provide the opportunity to integrate practice with theory , by working directly with patients and qualified staff . You will complete one 2-week placement in Year One . In Years Two , Three and Four , you will complete two 4-week and one 5-week placement in each year . Students will have the opportunity to organise an elective placement in Year Three which can be overseas . Placements take place within the NHS at various locations across Scotland . QMU manages the sourcing and allocation of placements for each student on this course .

Professional Registration / accreditation The course is approved by the College of Radiographers . Successful completion enables application for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a diagnostic radiographer which is essential for employment in the UK .
Careers Most graduates begin working as general radiographers . However , with experience , opportunities exist for specialisation in varied aspects of diagnostic radiography for example , ultrasound , computerised tomography ( CT ), magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ), radionuclide imaging and mammography .
