St Thomaskirche, blessing What goes on tour, stays on tour
sing where Bach had been Choirmaster (for
27 years), see the organ where he played
and literally to sit two feet from his tomb
inside the Thomaskirche. While singing
there I really had a sense of history and
the importance of where we were. On our last night on the coach going back to our
hotel in Erfurt we sang the whole concert
through again at the top of our voices which
provided much enjoyment to us all!

The Quiristers are Reunited with Belfast’s Schola Cantorum
Sunday 30 April 2017
On Sunday 30 April, the Quiristers and the
lower voices of Winchester College Chapel
Choir welcomed the Schola Cantorum
of Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Belfast, to the
College Chapel to sing a joint Eucharist. In
this return leg of the Quiristers’ participation
in a service at Saint Peter’s as part of their
December tour last year, the combined
choirs delivered a stirring performance of
Schubert’s Mass in G and Colin Mawby’s Ave
Verum Corpus.
The Schola, which was founded in only
2008, has a membership of up to forty
boys. The weekend helped to further cement
the bonds between the two choirs: as part of
their time in Winchester, the Schola had a
tour of the College, caught up with alumni
now at Win Coll and visited the cathedral.
