PYP in Action Newsletter Issue 9 [Eng]

Re us ed. PYP in Action Term 3 | May 2014 Bente finds out more about the Exhibition from a student from KIS Kim examines the display boards to gather some ideas The PYP Exhibition The PYP Exhibition is a culminating process and product of the PYP that takes place in Year 6. The students choose an inquiry that they have an interest in exploring; so they can apply their learning from previous years. They need to incorporate the essential elements of the PYP (knowledge, skills, concepts, attitudes, actions) while displaying all attributes of the learner profile. The students are required to take genuine action as a result of their learning. The Exhibition is a celebration of the journey the students have been on as they demonstrate who they are as learners. It is a process which involves not only the Year 6 teachers and PYP Coordinator, but also teachers from the primary and secondary school who facilitate by being mentors to specific groups and their issues. Selina and Kathy’s invitation to the PYP Exhibition Students and teachers from Year 5 and 6 used a primary source of research and visited KIS School in Bangkok to find out more about the Exhibition. The children were able to engage with students from KIS and pose questions and shared experiences about the Exhibition. They interacted with other students to generate further ideas to incorporate into their own specific inquiries. The students are currently hard at work in readiness for our first PYP Exhibition at St. Andrews. It will be an exciting and celebratory event where issues such as bullying, ozone layer and global warming, smoking and animal cruelty are being explored by students. The PYP Exhibition will be open to the school community on Wednesday 28th May, 2014 from 8.40 am to 12.20 pm. The Year 6 students are looking forward to sharing their learning with you. Please refer to the attached documents for further information and invitations designed by the Year 6 students. We would love to see you there. Oanh Crouch|PYP Coordinator
