It’s February and for many of us, that

also means we focus on Valentines’ Day.

What does that mean? It might mean Candy,

Flowers, Gifts, Dinner, etc. For Christians,

what can we do to make our marriage a different kind of love, a love that illuminates God and puts our spouse at the forefront of our thoughts and decisions every day and makes others say “I want the marriage they have”.

What does this distinctively different kind of love look like? Well, again, it starts with being God-centered instead of self-centered. It’s being upward and outward instead of being inward.

A Christian love is self-sacrificing, not self-serving love. In Philippians 2:1-4 Paul writes: “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others”.
