One of the most attractive aspects of Central Florida for businesses and
residents alike is its connectivity. There are three international airports
servicing the region, and an array of regional and executive airports that
increase access to the region. These airports act not only as the region’s
gateway to the world, but also as significant economic drivers; further,
improvements are continuously being made to ensure Central Florida
remains competitive in the future:
• TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Located along the west coast,
Tampa International is the second largest airport servicing the region,
servicing 18.8 million passengers last year, up 6.8 percent from the
previous year. The Tampa International Airport provides connectivity
to Central Florida, and is one of two airports to offer charter flights to
Cuba, an economy on the verge of opening up with strong ties to the
Tampa Bay area. This airport is also undergoing a massive $953.0
million renovation that includes a first phase plan to construct a 1.4-mile
people mover and expansion of the main terminal to increase capacity
and efficiency. As infrastructure projects increase the interconnectivity

the 15th busiest airport in the country and second busiest in Florida,
