Pulse September 2019 | Page 4

FROM YOUR CHAIRMAN THIS YEAR’S CONFERENCE THEME, “EVOLVE,” celebrates the importance of change and growth—as an industry, as a business and as an individual. It’s fitting, then, that I’m currently experiencing my own personal evolution: I am excited to announce that I started a new position with a fun new company last month! My next chapter begins as the new Director of Sales, Marketing & Spa for Blue Harbor Resort & Spa in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and I couldn’t be more pumped! As we move through life, we often find our priorities evolve and take on new shades of meaning. I am at a stage in my life where it’s critical to be around my family more, and this opportunity will allow me to travel significantly less—a true blessing! There’s something that Marcus Buckingham says in this issue of Pulse that stands out to me: “We should tip our lives, little by little, toward those things we love.” This change tips my life a little more “We should tip our lives, little by little, toward those things we love.” toward those things I love: spa and family. As you read this issue of Pulse, please take time to reflect on your career and see how you have evolved and changed. The positive growth that comes from change is powerful and, although it may feel scary or difficult at the time, it will definitely shape you into the person you are meant to become. Just like you and me, ISPA has evolved over the past 25 years. If you are attending the ISPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, I cannot wait to see you there and walk you through some of the changes that ISPA has experienced. It is truly remarkable to see how far ISPA has come from its birth, and we are so excited for the years ahead! Cheers! —gArrett merSBerger, chAIrmAn 2 PULSE ■ SEPtEmbEr 2019
