ISPA FOUNDATION
A
t the 2018 ISPA Conference & Expo, we
announced the Beauty Changes Lives
ISPA Scholarship, an all-new scholarship
fund to help our industry. To fill in the details on
this important step for the spa community, I
talked to Lynelle Lynch, president
of Beauty Changes Lives.
Frank: Let’s fill in our Pulse
readers. Why was the
scholarship created?
Lynelle: There are there are 38,000
jobs open in the spa industry within
the United States. This job crisis was the
catalyst for ISPA’s collaboration with Beauty
Changes Lives on the GET YOUR DEAM JOB campaign, which then naturally led to this schol-
arship. It is truly the industry’s responsibility and opportunity to recruit the next generation
and also pay their success forward to mentor the next generation.
F: Who is the scholarship for, and how many people will it help?
L: We’ve raised $35,000 so far to start the fund, and the scholarships will be valued at $1,000.
Students who have enrolled in an esthetic or massage program can apply online. To help
determine scholar recipients, the student is asked to provide an essay or video describing their
inspiration to join the industry.
