THE SPA SHIFT Announcements marking spa industry players on the move. ● Marriott International has appointed Emmanuel Richardet as General Manager of The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa Mauritius. ● Pala Casino Spa & Resort in Pala, California, appointed Michael Maines Director of Entertainment. ● Paul Schmidt has stepped down as executive director of the Green Spa Network. Spa Terra at The Meritage Resort in Napa, California collaborated with Novility to implement new training focused on ergonomics to prevent repetitive strain injuries known for being highly prominent in the hospitality industry. 2. British Manor Spa in Beaverton, Oregon, hosted four-time Olympic champion 1 4 3 and British legend Sir Mo Farah at its grand opening in June. Farah met with guests, signed autographs and shared his wellness and recovery routine. 3. Anatomie CEO Kate Boyer received the Women in Business Award from the Commonwealth Institute at its 12th annual luncheon in Miami. She was among the top 50 women-led businesses and top 10 not-for-profit women-led organizations in Florida. 4. Omorovicza hosted a pop-up spa at the 7th Annual Much Ado About Madoo 5 Garden Market and Cocktail Party at The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack, New York, featuring the brand’s Blue Diamond Facial. 5. Kerstin Florian International announced the launch of Kerstin Florian Beauty, its first-ever skincare-based, vegan, cruelty-free, sulfate-free and fragrance-free beauty color line, available in Fall 2017. The line will launch with a CC cream, foundation and brightening concealer. 6 6. [comfort zone] north america partnered with Asanda Spa Lounges in a selection of Delta Sky Clubs to provide treatments and retail products. 7. Ann Brown, founder and CEO of Saltability, has been selected as a judge for 8 the 2018 World Spa & Wellness Awards. The awards acknowledge excellence of care, service and standards and aim to inspire spas around the world and serve to raise global industry standards. 8. Two Bunch Palms broke ground on a multimillion-dollar upgrade in July. This upgrade will include a new contemporary bathing grotto, new spa, apothecary and fitness center.
