Words from the Editors

Dear Readers,

This eighth issue marks the end of the second year of Psychopomp Magazine. It's a bit of a special issue because in addition to four great stories we've selected for publication, we've also included a finalist and the winner of the second annual Psychopomp Magazine Short Fiction Contest. Jaclyn Watterson's "Charlie's Kidney," chosen by judge Kate Bernheimer as this year's first place winner, and runner-up Lisa Nohner's "Scales"—awarded the Editor's Prize—are both within these pages. In addition, you will soon be able to read interviews with both Jaclyn Watterson and Lisa Nohner on our website, psychopompmag.com, later this month.

Also within this issue you'll find work by Shelly Weathers, Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam, Anton Ivanov, and Melissa McDaniel, all of whom have written bold and unique work. Their stories will take you to strange places from the pages of a Craigslist ad for an unusual creature to the lament of a recently deceased Walmart shopper. As always, we hope you enjoy the journey. See you next season in Volume 3!

Thank you for reading,

Cole Bucciaglia
