work like I had for most of my life.

Is there anything else you would like to tell me? A quote? A story? Anything!

Matthew, there is another amazing trip I have not shared with you. It was about 1200 miles long, roughly the length of Vietnam from Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh City in the south of the country. This trip was planned by World T.E.A.M. Sports and I was selected to be a support handcyclist to help the cyclists in the our group who were new to handcycling. This group included veterans of the Vietnam War from the United States, veterans of the war from South Vietnam (at the time), veterans from the North who fought the Americans and the South Vietnamese, and veterans who supported us from Australia. Can you imagine men and women who years before had been fighting each other across the DMZ (demilitarized zone) between the north and the south cycling together, the length of this beautiful country and for some, reliving the difficulties and atrocities of the war; and the loss of friends, fellow soldiers, and for Vietnamese their family members. One night around the dinner table, there were about 10 of us, a mix of Vietnamese and Americans. On my right was a munitions expert who during the war, was on an aircraft carrier, was loading bombs onto planes that were dropping bombs on Hanoi, the capital in the north during a big offensive in the war. And across the table was a Vietnamese man, who lost eight members of his family during that bombing campaign of Hanoi. Lots of memorable stories from that ride, as you can imagine!

Matthew, I have found that in my travels that, even in countries with such different languages, different belief systems, lifestyles, and some countries where folks had so very little possessions or personal financial wealth, that we all share / had similar desires and wishes in our lives. What is important are; families, friends, a job or profession, safety for those important in our lives; secure food and water, clothing; opportunities for education if we should chose, and safe places to live. No matter where I have traveled, I found most of us, all have that in common Matthew.
