By
Muhammad Waseem Akram
IE student, UET Taxila
My
name is Muhammad Waseem Akram. I was
born in a village near Fort-Abbas (Border). I was
rejected admission from a number of universities in
Pakistan but my passion for engineering never went down
and today I am proud to be a graduate engineer from one
the most prestigious engineering institutions of Pakistan,
UET Lahore. Like many others, I too have tread a path
through financial crunches and bad omen. But after
a long struggle, industrial engineering has turned
out to be a rewarding career.
During my studies I h a v e focused on building my
software skills as in this fast paced world knowledge
of modern software tools is extremely essential for
better business and competitive advantage.
After 2nd year at university. I applied for
internship at Millat Equipment Limited. There I
was able to practically see and understand the
various
concepts
behind
compressors,
bearings, pumps, assembly, QC tools, MRP,
ERP, CRP, Product Designing, Maintenance
and various other facets of a manufacturing
facility. Millat Equioment Limited was my first
practical learn-ing experience.
With over 60 + techniques of Industrial
Engineering in the 5th semester, including
“Lean” through book reading and video
lectures, I have so far tried to utilize every
technique that I learnt during my coursework
and have applied on various systems of
organizations completely discrete in functional
and work aspect. As I got more confident I have
so far been able to successfully complete 12
self-worked industrial projects, 3 international
trainings, c o n d u c t e d
5 seminars and
attended 10 national and international webinars.
