PSIE Industrial Magazine Volume 2 Issue 1 | Page 3

July 2016 And eventually, when the person draws closer to his goal, his time extends in both directions. He is able to see beyond the temporal past and future. He develops an intuitive eye which has abilities that temporal eye is unable to see and he is able to contemplate on his self but like the instinct of a bee. And this is what I want my fellow youngsters to realize and to do justice to Iqbal by making the effort to understanding his thought and what he struggled to achieve, and resolve to make his vision a reality. FOUNDER’S MESSAGE ِ Dear all, It brings to me great joy to speak to you once again through the second volume of Pakistan’s first magazine on industrial engineering. I would like to make it clear that we are striving to uplift the name and recognition of our profession and very soon PSIE will be the premier organization that advances, promotes and unites the industrial engineering profession in Pakistan. “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” John F Kennedy My message for this issue is for youth of Pakistan and revolves around recognizing “Khudi” and our identity. The Self (khudi) is the source through which we can bring ourselves closest to the Ultimate. Allama Muhammad Iqbal said that man is the care-taker of all possibilities of life. In fact, human being is the master of seen and the unseen, as well as capable of exploring what is still not known to the temporal eye. Then according to Iqbal, when the individual assumes responsibility, it is the courage in him and along with force of his passion that carries him towards the final goal. His self-knowledge becomes ‘God knowledge’ and the entire world, as Socrates said, centers in him. It is the courage through which one attains his place in this world as well as in the world hereafter. In the following verses Iqbal highlights man’s creditability in this world: ِ Today, do you know that Pakistanis are playing a pivotal role in economics, education, science, engineering and health sectors of various first world countries? Majority of our population is young who make exceptional workforce on foreign soils. We are amongst the highest suppliers of qualified doctors, engineers and scientists to other countries. Our land is fertile and beaming with minerals of billions. We have successful selfless philanthropists like Edhi, Burni and Cheepa, likes of which are unmatchable. As a nation we are one of the highest givers of charity in the world. Despite the worst sports systems, we continue to produce sporting greats. Despite paucity of resourcers, we achieved nuclear capability. So, let us all realize that the path to success is lit with hope and not despair, self esteem not self effacement, ego and not demureness. Let us all try to act on these principles of continued success and stop blaming “Pakistan” for “our” frailties! Let us all work in conjunction towards a common cause for the betterment of our society, for our future generations and for our nation! “My message to you all is of hope, courage and confidence. Let us mobilize all our resources in a systematic and organized way and tackle the grave issues that confront us with grim determination and discipline worthy of a great nation.” Quaid-e-Azam Regards, (Those with elegant courage do not accept even ocean, Oh neglected one, how long would you hold dew in your skirt like the flower bud.) ِ Azeem Iqbal ِ Founder & Chairperson (The travelers guide, The Marching Bells) 02
