Did you wake up one morning with an intense desire to go travel? Are you itching for an
adventurous life combined with fulltime travel and work? Consider Workamping!
What is Workamping?
Over 30 years ago, Workamper News created the term workamper and defined it as “ad-
venturesome individuals, couples and families who have chosen a wonderful lifestyle that
combines ANY kind of part-time or full-time work with RV camping.”
Who Can Become a Workamper?
As you can probably imagine, over the years, the world of Workamping has grown quite a
bit. Every day, we encounter a wide range of RVers, from those just starting out to those
who have been doing it for years. The age of workampers today ranges from teenagers as
young as 18, to hearty seniors in their 80’s – and everything in-between. I would estimate
that over 100K people are currently workamping in the United States.
What Type of Jobs Should I Expect?
Workamping jobs are just as diverse as the people who take them on. Jobs can be short-
term or long-term, so you can be a part-time RVer (who goes back to another residence
for part of the year) or a full-time RVer (who lives in your unit year-round). It is up to each
individual to decide what his/her financial needs are, how often he/she wants to travel, and
what places he/she would like to see. A large majority of Workamping jobs deal with the
outdoor hospitality industry.
While it may feel like an extended vacation, workamping is still…work. Businesses hire
workampers intending that they will be a beneficial part of their staff, fulfill the position
as it was defined, and - in some cases with limited-budget entities - help keep the doors
open. By helping the business fill vacancies with people who see the position as win-win,
with benefits beyond just monetary compensation, Workamper News is doing our part to
help the RV industry continue to grow and develop!
