Key Stage 4 Course Information Theatre Post 16 Course Information Theatre What will I Study? What will I Study? If you join us aged 14 you will learn the basics of the performing arts industry from how to market and budget for a show to working backstage and in our box office. Lectures from visiting industry professionals and trips arranged by the department also give you an insight into what working in the world of theatre is really like. You will be studying for a UAL, Level 3, Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, which is equivalent to three A Levels. At the end of your studies you will achieve a BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting), equivalent to two GCSEs. How do I Apply? Please answer the following questions on section 7 of the application form: a) What do you think your best performance has been so far and why? b) What do you think is the most effective piece of theatre you have seen and why? c) Why do you think theatre is important? d) What do you think you will learn and what do you hope to achieve by studying this course? You will study both the theory and practice of a wide range of theatre styles through workshops and productions. From studying important acting techniques and works from pioneers of the theatre industry, to performing in a Shakespeare play and working with community groups, you will get a well- rounded experience of what you can expect from working in theatre professionally.
