Theatre performing arts course Course Overview Student Experience Acting, directing, writing or producing: whatever your passion for theatre, you can learn how to refine your skills on our Theatre course. Not only will you get plenty of opportunities to perform, you will also learn about many of the associated roles and tasks necessary to put on a show. This includes looking at the business side of putting on a play and the marketing behind productions. There are more than 30 p roductions per year presented by the Theatre department, so you will have many opportunities to get involved in a performance. You will perform in at least eight productions during your time at the School, and you will also get the opportunity to write your own plays, tour outside of school and work with community groups. At the end of your course you will be equipped with the practical skills to join the professional world of theatre or further your education in the industry. As well as this, you might just get the opportunity to perform at professional venues such as the Trafalgar Studios and New Wimbledon Studio Theatre. The department’s month-long season, Common Ground, showcases a wide genre of plays here at the School. Strawberry Picking, a new writing season, lets you create your own theatre and organise your own performances independently: a creative challenge, but a rewarding one! What Qualities do I need? You should have a passion for theatre and the arts and have the commitment and the drive to push yourself. You should also feel comfortable working in a team and be keen to pursue a career in the world of theatre.
