framework, launched on the 11th of August, 2015, is available to use nationally and presents public sector bodies
with a procurement regulation compliant way to purchase
the supply and installation of solar photovoltaic systems,
consultancy and project management for all types of renewable energy solutions. As ESPO explains: “This comes at a
time of growing importance of renewable energy: following
the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive, the UK is aiming for
15% of all energy from renewable sources by 2020. The
Department of Energy and Climate Change have
announced that to achieve this, 30% of electricity will come
from renewable sources, 12% of heat will come from
renewable sources, and 10% of transport fuel will come
from renewable sources.”
The framework itself is split into two distinct lots. Lot 1
focuses upon the supply and installation of solar PV systems, with each and every member of the scheme being
accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme
and Renewable Energy Consumer Code. This is then supported by Lot 2, which provides consultancy and project
