PLAN YOUR EXHIBIT &
LEAD CAPTURING STRATEGY LEVERAGE SOCIAL MEDIA TO
PROMOTE YOUR PARTICIPATION
Exhibiting at GIE+EXPO is an excellent
opportunity for your company to meet and
interact, capture qualified leads, take orders,
benefit from press coverage and launch/demo
new products. However, while these opportunities
are abundant at GIE+EXPO, benefiting from them
only comes when your show staff knows how to
effectively and efficiently “work” your booth. Start telling your social media followers far in
advance that your business will be present at
GIE+EXPO.
Create a hashtag for your presence and give
followers compelling reasons they'd want to visit
your booth. This may include a giveaway, a new
product announcement or even the opportunity
to be the first to have access to new data. During
the show, promote your hashtag at your booth and
use #GIEEXPO when you post photos, videos or
details about the interesting things happening at
your booth.
• Determine the purpose of your participation
in the 2018 GIE+EXPO and create an exhibit
strategy. Defining a clear purpose allows you to
concentrate your preparation and training efforts
toward achieving a specific goal. Once you have
defined your purpose, devise an exhibit strategy.
Be sure all staff who will be working your booth
know your company’s purpose and strategy.
Use GIE+EXPO’s social media feeds for a
direct channel to reach our attendees.

• Encourage your show staff to be proactive
in seeking potential customers rather than
depending on them to step inside your booth.
Many great networking opportunities arrive after
the show doors close. GIE+EXPO provides after-
show events, which attract prospects. Your hotel
and even the show’s food court are great places
to network as well.

Connect with media. Get to know the editors
of industry media outlets. Share what they’re
sharing. Comment on their work. Invite them to
stop by your booth. Give them story ideas around
what you’re doing.
• Create an eye-catching booth. Services are
available to help you design attractive displays
that will draw potential customers! If budget is
a concern, make your booth interactive with
demonstrations, presentations or giveaways to
draw attendees to your booth.
Create an event-specific page on your website.
Set up a landing page on your website and post
content about new products, demonstrations or
show-related promotions. It’s a great place to
direct potential visitors for info. After the show,
use this space to write about the show experi-
ence. Use pictures and videos, and of course,
thank everyone who participated. Use this page
(or a blog if you have one) to provide answers to
any questions you were asked during the show.
Others may have the same question. Be sure to
promote the page on social media.
• Plan lead-processing procedures in order
to follow-up with attendees. Use the form
provided in this kit to rent Lead Retrieval
equipment so you can scan attendees’
badges and have a ready-made list of potential
customers. Once you return to your office, you
can edit the database and follow up.
