Prayer Coaching with Doug Small H ere in the Carolinas, everyone is watching closely as the local NFL football team, the Panthers continue with their undefeated season. Everyone asks, ‘What is the secret ingredient to winning?’ Could it be the players, the coach or mere luck? The same question can be related to prayer. What’s the secret ingredient to getting your prayers answered? Is it how you pray, the type of prayer, your heart or just coincidence? Prayer is relational and transformational. Much of our praying is transactional, rather than transformational – it is doing business with God (petition) or the noble use of prayer (intercession), in which we do business for God. The great need is for balance. Let’s discover a new theology of prayer together. Personal Prayer Coaching – Level I A series of weekly calls for seven weeks on TUESDAYS at 6:45 AM EST. Be challenged in the area of using the Bible as a prayer book, of making prayer more about the ‘Presence’ of God, center yourself in the love of God as you pray, learn how ‘heaven is a kind of courtroom’ and how to offer effective petitions, discover the power of the uncomfortable middle – intercession, and then look at transactional-transformation-transcendent prayer. These simple sessions are changing the prayer perspective of hundreds of people. The next session of Personal Prayer Coaching begins in February. Prayer Coaching – Level II If you have completed Prayer Coaching – Level I, experience Level II. It is completely different. Here, we review, the theology of prayer and prayer structure, the power of thanksgiving in fueling prayer, how prayer needs a time and a place, prayer and consecration – the power of the disciplines, praying scripture – the 2nd round! And repentance and prayer! At this level, we are treading deep waters. Complete Level I, preferably twice, first solo and then as a mentor to others. This program is scheduled for TUESDAYS at 7:45 AM EST and will begin in February. Local Church Coaching You’ve joined the Praying Church Movement! But you are stuck.
