For those who already have a grasp of
major and minor chords and simple
strumming and picking techniques,
this course expands upon the basics
and develops both rhythm and lead
guitar techniques. Relevant popular
songs will be covered in tandem with
techniques and exercises. Some music
theory will be explained to help
students understand topics covered.
A fun class incorporating different
styles of music, including pop, rock,
soul, blues, musical theatre, classical
and folk. You will have the opportunity
to sing individually as well as
collectively. The application of vocal
technique, performance skills and
harmony work will be encouraged in a
relaxed and supportive environment.
Participants can expect to develop their
knowledge of and confidence in
playing electric blues guitar by learning
blues licks and techniques based on
the styles of well-known players, and
constructing and playing 12-bar blues
solos in real-time. You will need to
bring your own instrument and ideally
a small amplifier. Not suitable for
absolute beginners. Musical notation,
tablature and CD audio provided.
