PROGRAM SUCCESS – SEPTEMBER 2010
Lady D’s
Young Peoples Forum
Black & White Ball
PAGE 35
On Saturday, August 28, 2010 Orlando embarked upon a night of enchantment in
the celebration of our youth and their accomplishments throughout the year and
more over during the summer of Lady D’s Young Peoples Forum Manners
Academy. This was a full summer term of free etiquette and manners classes open
to the community. YPF offered this program to various locations and youth
centers – even in a budget crisis environment our children’s future are top priority.
During this night of enchantment the following recognitions were given: Mr.
Reginald B. McGill, Community Advocacy, The Heron Family, Humanitarian
Award, Mr. Jamie Butler, Ms. Christiana Dillard and Mr. Alex Taylor all received
Points of Pride, Youth in Media Awards. Ms. Rachel Sims received recognition
for her dedication to the forum and long tenure and participation. The highlight of
the evening was an inaugural award presented to Mr. Harris Rosen for the Love of
a Child, Harris Rosen Award. Each year we will recognize a community, business
leader who gives back to our youth and adds to our economic and community
growth in extraordinary ways. The keynote speaker was Mr. Lucas Boyce of the
Orlando Magic. Our Diamond sponsor out of New York City was the Kats
Organization.
Young Peoples Forum although existing for more than fifteen years as a radio
forum for the youth, completed its first full year as a forum on mainstream
television. Lady D’s Young Peoples Forum currently holds its forum weekly on
Tuesday evenings at the WOKB studios in Orlando. Youth ages 7 - 17 that are
not physically able to attend, can call in between 7:00 - 8:00 PM to share in the
experience at 407-894-1680. In addition to the radio forum, you can view Lady
D’s Young Peoples Forum on Sundays at 5:00 PM on Brighthouse Channel 49.
You can also tune in 24/7 via internet at www.cacradioandtv.com.
As the forum is in its second year on television, fresh, new ideas and initiatives
are being courted. Some courted ideas are a year around Manners Academy (high
demand for it) as well as full-family focused symposiums. As the motto of YPF
is “Teach the children respect and they will learn respect, give respect and get
respect”, Lady D realizes that not all parents have had the opportunity for formal
etiquette training and such the demands for full family
sessions will be offered intermittently. In support of our
family structure, you will find a Thought for Today on
facebook at Young Peoples Forum (Lady D’s) followed
by a daily prayer.
Lady D’s Young Peoples Forum Manners Academy is
the first spin-off and to God be the Glory for its proven
success. YPF thanks contributors, Pastor Mark Nelson,
Deputy Stanley Murray, Instructor Hazel Burgan and
the dedicated parents who support the forum on a
weekly basis.
Founded by Lady D, a vessel who knows no limits and
sets her own boundaries, Young Peoples Forum is
proudly sponsored by Caribbean Affair Connection
which currently airs on WOKB Radio 1680 AM
weekdays from 7:00 - 9:00 PM and on Saturdays at
12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM and Caribbean One Stop
Restaurant at 2117 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando FL.
In the middle of YPF operations, you will find Nouchelle
‘Shelly’ Hastings, married to Jamaican born, Oliver
Hastings, has come to love the culture and share in the
pride of this growing community. Although the couple
operates Hit the Ground Running Now Business
Solutions, you will find a dedicated focus and allegiance
to Lady D and the Young Peoples Forum. “I know that
God has ordained this relationship and has chosen Lady
D for such a time as this” says Shelly who is also an
ordained Elder.
Lady D’s Young Peoples Forum is a hub of hope for our
youth. Our youth are the future and the future is now.
The support of the community at large is needed as the
village to raise our children is expanding. To see where
God is leading the visionary, Lady D stay tuned to Young
Peoples Forum and watch for the harvest.
