Among the many service projects identified the national supports the promotion and maintenance of the historic home of Dr. Mary McLeod
Bethune, located on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University and the maintenance of Joyner Hall a freshman dormitory for women. The organization supports a national scholarship program and various social service and community involvement programs.
The celebration held on the Bethune-Cookman University campus reminds us of the many transitions of the school, once an elementary school
for five Negro girls, chartered under the state of Florida as an industrial training school for girls, a secondary school with a vocational department,
a coed high school after the merger with Cookman Institute of Jacksonville, a junior college, a state approved four year college and most recently
a university.

On Sunday August 10, 2008 the Alpha Chi Pi Omega Sorority and Fraternity,
Inc. a Greek-lettered international service organization dedicated to the development of the hair care and beauty professional and the advancement and
promotion of the entire beauty industry throughout the United States and the
world returned to Daytona Beach, Florida for the celebration of installation
honoring the founding members of the Alpha Beta Iota Chapter. Ophelia
Williams was celebrated as the Basileus. Dr. Richard Evans, Dallas Texas
presided over the installation with Dr. L. Ronald Durham of Greater Friendship Baptist Church family bringing Pastoral Greetings. Dr. Trudie Kibbe
Reed, President of the Great Bethune-Cookman University provided Congratulatory Remarks. The organization was established on October 27, 1945 in
