CENTRAL FLORIDA REGIONAL HOSPITAL NEW REHABILITATION CENTER " The Rehabilitation Center at Central Florida Regional said Eddie Brooks . The Rehabilitation Center , the only facility Hospital was not an easy project to complete we had five of its kind in Seminole County , offers rehabilitation for patients months to demo the existing space and build an all-new 13 bed with complex conditions that may include stroke , spinal cord Rehabilitation Unit with all of the supporting requirements ," injury , amputation or brain injury . The center helps patients minimize physical or cognitive disabilities and gain greater independence after illness , injury or surgery . It has 13 large private rooms , a physical therapy gym , a home care therapy area and 24 hour immediate access to all hospital services . The Rehabilitation Center ' s team of doctors , nurses and therapists is dedicated to improving , maintaining or restoring physical strength , cognition and mobility through a customized plan for each patient .
" This is a great example of how Central Florida Regional Hospital works to align the services we offer with the needs of the community we serve ," said Wendy Brandon , Chief Executive Officer . " We are proud to be the first and only healthcare organization in Seminole County to provide this type of acute rehabilitation ."
HOSPITAL DESIGNATED PROVISIONAL LEVEL II TRAUMA CENTER
We had a very tight timeline to finish this project in seven weeks ," said Eddie Brooks . " We did it and Central Florida Regional Hospital was designated a Provisional Status Level II Trauma Center by the Florida Department of Health ." The hospital began accepting Level II trauma patients on May 1 , 2015 . In an effort to expand access to lifesaving medical care for critically injured patients , Designation as a Provisional Level II Trauma Center means Central Florida Regional Hospital will now receive trauma alerts from emergency medical services personnel responding to emergencies involving critical injuries . Patients are triaged by EMS in the field according to criteria for the level of trauma care and transported to the nearest trauma center capable of providing the appropriate treatment . Previously , trauma patients in Seminole and West Volusia counties were transported more than 25 miles to the nearest trauma center .
" This is a critical , life-saving advancement of medicine for the residents of Seminole and West Volusia counties , as well as for the many visitors to Central Florida who pass through our community each year ," said Wendy Brandon , Chief Executive Officer , Central Florida Regional Hospital . " Our mission is to save lives by reducing transport times for critically injured patients to receive appropriate care . In addition , keeping families of tramna victims closer to their loved ones will help the recovery process for our patients ."
