Nicole Phillips Hollis is the Chief Executive Director for Bridge to Independence , Incorporated ; a 50l ( c )( 3 ) non-profit educational organization . After countless hours of planning and research , Ms . Phillips-Hollis opened the Bridge to Independence ( BTI ) Private School in August 2003 with 11 students in a 636 square foot space . BTI ' s main objective is to improve the lives of children who live in Orlando rural areas who suffer from a lack of success in the traditional classroom setting . By implementing a customized academic curriculum to fit the needs of student ' s whose academic levels are below performance . Over the past few years Bridge to Independence had develop an advanced curriculum for student ' s whose academic levels are advance performance . School year 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 the kindergartens and first graders showed 98 % gains performance in reading and math on the Stanford 10 assessment . As a school , 60 % of our students achieved one grade level or more above the goal in Reading Vocabulary and Spelling . An additional success story can be seen in school attendance rate subgroup . The attendance achievement from 2014-2015 was 98 % and 65 % success in honor roll achievement .
