PROGRAM SUCCESS – MAY 2009 PAGE 5 Southwest Orlando Jaycees S ince 1982, the Southwest Orlando Jaycees has served as the premiere civic leadership organization in Metropolitan Orlando for young and mature individuals alike. Today the Southwest Orlando Jaycees is proud to continue its distinguished history, providing a new generation of men and women personal and professional development through community involvement. As a proud member of The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce and as an affiliate of The Florida Jaycees, the Southwest Orlando Jaycees is honored to promote the basic tenets of the Jaycee Creed as a platform for civic involvement. The JAYCEE Creed We Believe: That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men and women through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men and women; That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life. Membership is open for individuals to join our organization in making the communities of which we live and work safer and better. Currently, the SWOJ sponsors the Annual Orlando MLK Parade; The Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Prayer Breakfast in Commemoration with Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast; Etiquette Training events with the youth; Gift Cards and Baskets donations to families in the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons; and Real Estate and Investment Seminars. The Southwest Orlando Jaycees is aggressively moving to grow and develop new programs under the leadership of its President Sean Bradford, an Orlando native, Jones High School and South Carolina State University graduate. “ I want to take the Southwest Orlando Jaycees to new heights by expanding the events we sponsor and by reaching out more the community.” Sean mentors young men and women and assist them in getting into college. As an Usher in his church Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist, he sponsors the Youth Usher Board and is a Church Leader.
