TRANSITIONING :

From Employment to Self-Employment
I was one who did what I was told and that was to make good grades in school , go to college and get a good job . I married a sailor and started working as a civilian for the U . S . Navy a little over 15 years ago . Life was good , or more like regular . I desired more and knew I could do more with my life . In 2006 I started her own sitter service for the elderly and was licensed in Duval and surrounding counties . Three years later , I found myself running a business , still working full time , and married to an active duty husband who was frequently deploying . This took a toll on my live both physically and emotionally and I decided to give the business up to continue with my federal service
At this point I realized that any work is not necessary good work , especially if you are just working to be working . I consider myself an advocate for women . Years ago we fought for equal working rights but in my opinion I believe that we have taken the movement too far . Far too many women have stretched themselves beyond reasonable expectations to take of their families , aging parents , work in ministry and community service . Our duties can be so overwhelming that we often tend to forget to take care of ourselves . We must realize that if we are not in full functionality we will no longer be able to take of our dear loved ones .
