The primary mission of the Buffalo Soldiers Historical Society is to preserve , promote and perpetuate the history of Black American military units . These units served our country from the early 1800 ' s to 1951 . We accomplish this mission by conducting presentations and educational awareness programs in and around the Jacksonville community . We also participate in youth mentoring programs . We are a Non-Profit family oriented organization . Est . In 2006 .

We joined the NABSTMC in 2006 and enjoyed 5 years of excellent service to our MC family . We were honored to host the 2011 National Convention here in Jacksonville , FL . The event set new convention standards and received high marks by all . We filed for a name change with the State of FL in Nov . 2011 , terminating our charter with the NABSTMC . We maintain all of our legal status with this name change . We are the Buffalo Soldiers Historical Society , Inc . ( BSHS ) 50lc3 est . 2009 .
In February , we conduct many presentations in and around the Jacksonville community . One of our favorite Black History Programs is held annually at Brookview Elementary .
We also work with other organizations like Wolfson Children ' s Hospital , One Church-One Child and have established Partnerships with The Jacksonville Public Library , The Public Defenders Office " Vision For Excellence Program " and The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum of Houston , TX .
